110 FPI – Roma Boxing Night: Fraccaroli, Russo and Noutcho victorious

Live report – Press Tribune, PalaTiziano, Rome

On the undercard of 110 FPI – Roma Boxing Night, the outstanding event staged at Rome’s PalaTiziano by The Art of Fighting and De Carolis Promotions in collaboration with the Italian Boxing Federation (FPI), Mattia Fraccaroli scored a devastating knockout over Alessio Mastronunzio, Francesco Russo defeated Simone Brusa on points in a highly controversial decision, and Pamela Noutcho Sawa knocked Mahjouba Oubtil unconscious in the opening round. Below is a brief recap of the three bouts.

Welterweight: Mattia Fraccaroli def. Alessio Mastronunzio by KO 4

Mattia Fraccaroli made the better start, taking advantage of his opponent’s very cautious approach and earning the edge in the opening round thanks to his higher work rate. Mastronunzio settled into the fight in the second round, relying mainly on his straight right hand, which disrupted Fraccaroli’s rhythm and made his offense more hesitant and fragmented.

Fraccaroli regained confidence during the second half of the third round and, in what appeared to be an evenly contested fourth, unleashed a vicious right hand to the jaw that left Mastronunzio with no chance. It was a truly devastating knockout, with the Lazio fighter remaining on the canvas for several seconds and leaving the crowd holding its breath. Fortunately, Mastronunzio got back to his feet fully conscious and embraced his opponent for the customary post-fight photos at center ring.

Middleweight: Francesco Russo def. Simone Brusa by unanimous decision

The fight started at a very slow pace. From the opening bell, Brusa circled relentlessly around the ring, throwing quick but light and sporadic punches, while Russo stalked him around the ring, missing with heavily loaded shots and finding only occasional success with body punches.

The contest remained evenly matched—and, truthfully, rather dull—for the first three rounds. Brusa finally showed more ambition early in the fourth, landing a couple of sharp combinations before returning to his cautious long-range strategy.

The tactical pattern remained unchanged over the final two rounds. Russo continued to press forward and dictate the initiative, but his attacks were often ineffective and disorganized. Brusa displayed superior technical accuracy and cleaner punching but remained too passive, occasionally resorting to spoiling tactics.

In our opinion, Simone Brusa—despite boxing too cautiously for a fighter competing away from home—had done enough to earn the judges’ decision. The officials, however, disagreed and awarded the victory to the hometown boxer. It was a highly controversial verdict that drew loud boos from the crowd and is certain to spark plenty of debate.

Lightweight: Pamela Noutcho Sawa def. Mahjouba Oubtil by KO 1

Completely unfazed by the last-minute opponent change, Pamela Noutcho approached this non-title bout with the same determination and intensity she would have brought to the defense of her IBO title.

Mahjouba Oubtil, who deserves credit for accepting the fight on very short notice, tried to neutralize her opponent’s relentless pressure by moving along the ropes. However, she was caught by a crushing right hook that sent her crashing heavily to the canvas, prompting the referee to wave the fight off immediately.

The knockout was truly spectacular—the kind that will be replayed over and over in the highlights—and offered yet another demonstration of Pamela Noutcho’s exceptional explosiveness. With a right hand like that in her arsenal, she can genuinely dream big.
