We are pleased to publish the press release from The Art of Fighting regarding the event called “Roma Boxing Night,” scheduled for July 4 at the PalaTiziano in Rome.
Great anticipation surrounds Roma Boxing Night, the flagship event of the celebrations marking the 110th anniversary of the Italian Boxing Federation (FPI), focused on elite-level sport, historical memory, and future vision. The event is promoted by the FPI and organized together with The Art of Fighting (TAF) and De Carolis Promotions, which return to the Italian capital after last December’s great success.
Supported by the Minister for Sport and Youth and the Department for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion of Rome Capital, with the patronage of CONI, the event will set the PalaTiziano ring ablaze in Rome on Saturday, July 4.
The official presentations of the event, attended by authorities, organizers, and the featured boxers, will take place on Friday, June 19 at 3:00 PM at the Carlo Scarpa Hall of Rome’s MAXXI Museum (Via Guido Reni 4).
The organization led by Edoardo Germani (TAF) and that of Giovanni De Carolis, former world boxing champion and now Technical Director of Italy’s national teams, have joined forces to create a unique evening. From the synergy between the two organizations, and thanks to the support of the FPI, an event has been created featuring a world title, an EBU Silver title (formerly the European Union belt), and two Italian titles.
“We are proud and delighted,” said FPI President Flavio D’Ambrosi, “to announce this synergy of intentions and values that will bring Roma Boxing Night to life, the highlight of our 110th anniversary celebrations. We will provide a great show for the entire boxing community, and we will do so at the PalaTiziano to celebrate the historical, sporting, and social story of Italian boxing, together with two great promoters such as TAF and De Carolis Promotion. A boxing experience to be enjoyed ringside alongside the champions of yesterday and today, protagonists of an event that will shine a spotlight on the noble art nationally and internationally. I thank the institutions for their valuable support and the entire boxing movement for the participation that I am sure will not be lacking.”
“TAF is now recognized as a leader in the national boxing scene, which is why we are looking toward a European dimension,” explained Germani. “At our recent events we have consistently featured EBU Silver title fights, and now we can announce the first world title in our history. We are proud to do it in Rome, a symbolic city, unique in the world, the ideal stage to raise the level of our journey. We work extremely well with De Carolis because we share the same vision, principles, and values.”
De Carolis added: “We have given our all to celebrate such an important and historic anniversary for the Federation in the best possible way. We always work closely with the FPI, which supports us on every occasion. We have a great understanding with TAF and common objectives. We can go a long way together, and this event will be a new chapter among many others, I am convinced of that.”
Looking at the evening’s schedule, which includes around ten professional boxing bouts, the main event will see Mauro Forte (22-1, 2 draws) defend his EBU Silver bantamweight title against Vincenzo Picardi (12-1), a ring veteran and former Italian and European Union champion. It will be a difficult and crucial test for Forte, who must confirm his credentials if he wants to target the European title.
In the co-main event, Francesco Faraoni (8-1) receives another opportunity to fight for the Italian title against Giovanni Rossetti (12-4), a former national and international champion and a challenger for the European Union belt. It is a balanced contest between two boxers who are young in age but experienced in the ring, both determined to take an important step forward in their careers.
Rome is preparing to shake under the devastating punches of the heavyweights as Antonio Carlesimo (10-0) and Angelo Morejon (10-0), both undefeated with identical records, battle for the Italian title. Another highly unpredictable matchup between two knockout artists, promising plenty of excitement and a bout that could end well before the final bell.
Then comes the first world title fight in TAF history: Italy’s Pamela Noutcho (10-0) will defend her IBO Women’s Lightweight title against the dangerous Jenny Tulcan (14-0). A clash between two unbeaten fighters that promises fireworks and could propel Noutcho even higher, among the elite of women’s boxing.
Opening the main card will be the return of Dario Morello (26-1), who has recovered from a biceps injury but not from the disappointment of being forced to withdraw from his bout against Paolo Bologna at TAF 13. Morello will face a dangerous opponent in Francesco Russo (13-6), a hard puncher with tremendous power, having won 11 of his 13 victories by knockout.
Also on the card, Mattia Fraccarolli (6-1) will face Alessio Mastronunzio (14-7) in a welterweight contest. Mastronunzio had been scheduled to meet Pietro Rossetti in a rematch of their December bout, but Rossetti suffered an injury.
The first undercard bout of the evening will feature Davide Borrelli (3-0) against Luca Khalil (2-1) in the welterweight division, while additional bouts are still being finalized.
