A solid D’Addazio wins the Italian title, but what grit from Mauro Loli!

Last night, the Italian super lightweight title was up for grabs, a vacant belt contested by Edoardo “Hammer” D’Addazio and the southpaw from Rome, Mauro Loli.

The evening, organized by OPI Since 82 at the PalaRoma in Montesilvano, featured a clash of two very different styles: a powerful D’Addazio coming off an international win, and an experienced Loli who had even faced the well-known Armando Casamonica in the past.

The bout was exciting from the outset, ultimately going to the scorecards and, as predicted, in favor of D’Addazio (97–95; 96–95; 97–93).

The match began with the Abruzzese fighter immediately on the front foot, trying to set a high pace from the opening seconds with continuous two-handed combinations. Loli appeared slightly passive, perhaps not expecting such an explosive start. The first round clearly went to D’Addazio.

In the second, Loli was noticeably more mobile, jabbing with greater conviction, though he still took some hard shots from his opponent. In the third round, things really heated up!

Both fighters willingly traded blows at the center of the ring. Loli tried to put his opponent under pressure, but D’Addazio kept dictating the pace, backing the Roman boxer into the ropes. However, in the final seconds, Loli began to find success with his left hook.

In the fourth, D’Addazio started aggressively again, but Loli responded well with solid combinations and continued landing his left hook. The fight remained competitive, with open exchanges on both sides.

Round five began as usual with D’Addazio pushing forward, but this time Loli had gained confidence, answering back with quick and precise attacks. A beautiful right uppercut from D’Addazio stood out, as he remained solid and effective.

The pace remained high, with both fighters landing shots. Loli recovered quickly after D’Addazio’s heavy body punches, though the latter seemed to slow down somewhat.

D’Addazio continued to hold center ring, moving forward with single, powerful shots, while Loli moved well and fired back with two-handed combinations.

The eighth round might have been the best of the night. After hearing he was behind on the cards, Loli came out more determined, focused, and accurate. D’Addazio, still composed and solid, finished the round on the attack. This pattern continued into the ninth, in what was turning into a thrilling Italian title fight.

In the final round, D’Addazio came out swinging. Blow after blow, the two men gave everything they had at center ring. D’Addazio’s uppercuts kept coming, while Loli stuck to his trusty left hook.

Both fighters showed tremendous heart, maintaining a great pace throughout. In the end, D’Addazio—despite breaking his hand in the first round—emerged as the winner, proving once again that he’s a rock-solid boxer. But last night, he had to deal with a brave, generous, and intelligent opponent in Mauro Loli. Applause for both men for such a great match, and to the organizers for a fantastic night of boxing.
