Less than three weeks from their fight, scheduled for November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Mike Tyson and Jake Paul aren’t holding back on mutual provocations. The latest fiery words in the press, predicting that once hit, Jake Paul will run like a thief, came from Iron Mike himself. The former heavyweight world champion, according to Fox 4 News, declared the following:
“You can’t compare me with other people my age because the other people my age haven’t been training as long as me, as consistent as me. I’m just a different species of human being… I’m going in there with bad intentions. My intention is to hurt this young man. [The fans] won’t believe the spectacle that’s gonna happen. It’s gonna be something they’ve never experienced before as far as pain is concerned.
“As soon as I catch him he’s gonna run like a thief. He’s gonna run all f***ing night. I think he should try [standing toe-to-toe], he’s the younger man, he should be able to handle punches from an old withering man like me.”
Regardless of how things go in terms of sports, the event, despite heavy criticism from many in the industry, has all the potential to generate massive revenue. It’s no coincidence that initial reports of Jake Paul’s purse have just emerged, expected to be around 40 million dollars.
The undercard fighters will also benefit: for instance, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, who will be vying for all the super lightweight world titles, will earn amounts never before seen in the history of women’s boxing.
