It’s Pamela Noutcho’s Week! Our Fighter Ready for the IBO Title Against Carbajal

We’ve entered a crucial week for the career of our representative Pamela Noutcho Sawa. The unbeaten boxer from Bologna will be back in action this Friday at the PalaDozza in Bologna, facing the experienced Argentine Karen Elizabeth Carbajal. On the line will be the vacant IBO Lightweight Title. The event, organized by Promo Boxe Italia and Mario Loreni, will also feature the Italian Featherweight Title bout between Ghaith Weslati and Nicolò Setaro, along with three tests for up-and-coming boxers.

Pamela Noutcho comes from one of the most impressive and convincing victories of her professional career. On April 11th this year, she knocked out Martina Righi in the first round, displaying outstanding explosiveness and coordination in landing her right hand.

That fight was the first defense of the European Title, which Noutcho had won in October 2024 by clearly outpointing Serbian fighter Nina Pavlovic. Now boasting a perfect record of nine wins in as many fights, she feels ready to take another step forward.

Her Argentine opponent, Carbajal, is anything but an easy challenge. The South American fighter has already had 27 professional bouts, winning 25 of them, and has twice fought for world titles.

She came up short, but with honor. In 2022, she showed remarkable resilience, going toe-to-toe and fearlessly exchanging punches with the decorated Irish champion Katie Taylor, losing only by decision.

Noutcho will therefore have to be smart and patient, avoiding frustration if her best punches are absorbed by her tough opponent without making her back down. Carbajal is a gritty, determined boxer, though somewhat stiff and mechanical in her movements. She can be troubled by a varied, fast, and in-and-out style of boxing.

In the co-main event, all eyes will be on the Italian Featherweight Title clash between Ghaith Weslati, a Livorno-based fighter of Tunisian origin, and Nicolò Setaro. Weslati comes in unbeaten, with 11 wins in 11 fights, while Setaro’s record stands at 9 victories and 2 defeats. For both, it will be their first title bout and their first scheduled ten-round fight.

Rounding out the card will be three additional bouts:

  • Francesco Magrì vs Luigi Francesco Zito (8 rounds, super welterweight)
  • Biancamaria Tessari vs Dunja Bocan (8 rounds, lightweight)
  • Cezar Ieseanu vs Ricardo Pompeo Mellone (6 rounds, super welterweight)
