A peculiar misadventure is unfolding for WBC middleweight world champion Carlos Adames. The Dominican fighter has found himself stranded at the Las Vegas airport while attempting to board a flight to Saudi Arabia, where he is scheduled to face dangerous British puncher Hamzah Sheeraz on February 22 as part of the star-studded Riyadh Season event.

Adames himself revealed the unfortunate incident through a couple of posts on the social network X:

“I tried to board the plane to Saudi Arabia, but I am banned from getting on because they will not allow me to enter Saudi Arabia.”

“My manager told me that they said I could not enter Saudi Arabia before the date they decided, my team bought our tickets on their own and they let my team pass but I cannot pass. I’m stranded, waiting at the Las Vegas airport.

The boxer later deleted these posts, and at the moment, the only message about the situation that remains on his profile is a brief but powerful statement:

“This is a shameful act.”

More details will need to emerge to fully understand the situation, as Adames’ statements raise several unanswered questions.

Did Adames’ team inform the organizers in advance about their plan to arrive in Saudi Arabia early? Were all visa procedures followed meticulously? Why were Adames’ team members allowed to board while the fighter himself was stopped?

Conspiracy theorists may suspect that the strong ties between Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions—Sheeraz’s promoter—and Riyadh Season played a role in the incident. According to this theory, the goal would be to unsettle Adames by disrupting his plans and preventing him from arriving early to acclimate and finalize his training.

However, it’s too early to jump to conclusions. All that remains is to follow the case closely to see if there are further developments and how many days it will take before the Dominican fighter is finally allowed to fly to Riyadh.
