Tyson Fury hasn’t stepped into the ring since December of last year, when he was clearly defeated on points by the current unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh. According to his long-time promoter Frank Warren, however, the Gypsy King hasn’t hung up his gloves for good and is expected to fight again in 2026.

Speaking to DAZN, Warren said:

“I spoke to him last week; he said that he’s going to come back and fight next year.

“He’s going to do it. He’s had a very busy year this year. He’s obviously not had a fight this year, but as we’ve all seen, he’s had his documentary. He’s told me categorically he wants to fight next year. So, we’ll sit down and see.”

Many believe his comeback fight could be the long-awaited British derby against Anthony Joshua, who has also been inactive for over a year. A clash between the two would undoubtedly have had much more appeal a few years ago, when both fighters were at the peak of their careers, but it’s still very likely that fans in the UK and beyond would show huge interest even in 2026.

Joshua last fought in September 2024, when he was brutally knocked out by fellow Brit Daniel Dubois, failing in his attempt to reclaim the IBF world title. Many observers believe AJ is looking for one final big stage before retiring from boxing, and a showdown with Fury could be the perfect opportunity.
