Italian boxers Davide Brito and Yassin Hermi face thrilling challenges on December 14 during the WBC Annual Convention, where they’ll fight at the Grand Elysee Hotel in Hamburg, Germany, against opponents with good records.
Heavyweight Davide Brito, who turned pro in 2023 in the United States after a strong amateur career in Italy, has achieved six victories in as many bouts, three by knockout. Having made an impression in the U.S., Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, the Tuscan fighter recently fought in Germany, winning by unanimous decision against German Ali Kiydin.
On December 14, Brito will go up against the towering Frenchman Mourad Aliev, who remains unbeaten in his professional career after twelve matches, nine of which were won by KO. Our fellow Italian will face the unusual challenge of a taller opponent, given Aliev’s impressive 202 cm height.
Yassin Hermi gained recognition in Italy, especially for his two intense bouts against the popular, flamboyant puncher Luca Chiancone, the first of which ended in a draw and the second in a narrow points loss. Both decisions stirred controversy, with many convinced that Hermi deserved victory on both occasions.
Now the 22-year-old from Florence is set to face Turkish-born German resident Serkay Comert, who has won all eight of his professional matches, with seven by KO. Though his high KO percentage suggests he shouldn’t be underestimated, it’s worth noting that the level of Comert’s opponents thus far has been less than stellar.
We’ll follow our two athletes closely, hoping they can overcome these challenging obstacles and look to the future with renewed ambition.
