According to the well-known American journalist from The Ring, Mike Coppinger, Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul are reportedly very close to finalizing negotiations for a fight in Miami this December. The bout would naturally take place in the heavyweight division. The rules agreed upon between the two boxers have not yet been disclosed.
After facing basketball players, undersized MMA fighters, and retired boxers, Jake Paul is now attempting the big move — accepting to fight a top-tier opponent who still appears to be in full physical form.
Needless to say, if both men are allowed to punch with full power, the fight would end within seconds with a brutal KO in favor of AJ. It would therefore be yet another ridiculous show, devoid of any sporting meaning, designed purely to make money by exploiting the morbid curiosity of casual viewers.
A brilliant marketing move, perhaps, but a deeply disappointing one considering that Anthony Joshua’s boxing career could still offer some thrilling, high-level matchups. Evidently, the former world champion no longer has the fighting spirit and prefers to boost his bank account while minimizing risk.
It remains to be seen whether the Florida Athletic Commission will be willing to authorize such a bout, taking responsibility for its potential consequences.
