Magnesi number one in the WBC rankings. World title shot coming?

Michael “Lone Wolf” Magnesi is officially the number one contender in the WBC super featherweight rankings. The Italian boxer, who has been consistently ranked among the top three in recent months of 2025, has now climbed to the top of the world standings.

The news was released by the Italian Boxing Federation and confirmed by Alessandra Branco, the athlete’s promoter, manager, and wife.

This achievement also comes in light of the victory that solidified Magnesi’s position. On March 3, in Valmontone, the Lazio native succeeded in capturing the WBC Silver super featherweight title, defeating France’s Khalil El Hadri on points after an intense and tactically mature bout.

Leading the WBC rankings now represents a crucial step in Magnesi’s path toward a world title fight, confirming him as an official contender within one of boxing’s major international governing bodies.

All things considered, this news goes beyond the success of a single athlete: it is good for Italian boxing and the entire movement, offering a concrete signal to all those fighters who, day after day, in gyms across the country, through training and sacrifice, continue to chase the dream of entering the elite of world boxing and achieving their sporting and personal redemption through the ring.

Alessandra Branco, contacted by Boxe Punch, did not comment on the prospects now opening up for Magnesi: “At the moment I can’t make any statements. We will do so as soon as possible,” was her reply to our questions.

However, she could not hide her great emotion and chose to share a special dedication to her champion on social media:
“Seeing your name at the top of the world rankings of the most important organization in the world, the WBC, makes me proud of you, of the person you are, of the warrior you are. Proud of your determination, professionalism, and resilience. You have been in training since July, chasing your dream and working to make it come true, ready for anything, working hard without thinking about parties, dinners, or distractions, neglecting yourself, with only one goal: the WBC world championship belt.”

At this point, the most realistic scenarios are two. Magnesi could receive a direct opportunity to face reigning world champion O’Shaquie Foster, or he could fight the new number two contender Raymond Ford in a final eliminator. All that remains is to wait and see what the next developments will be.
